Rose Quartz is formed when the usual composition of Quartz which is oxygen and silica( SiO2 ), combines with manganese and titanium. The manganese is responsible for making the pink color, and the titanium, for the chatoyant effect that can sometimes create a star. Rose quartz can be a milky baby pink or can at best present a more rare transparent medium rose color. Ours is of the highest-grade transparent type, and we call it "gemmy" to define its value. It is mostly found in Brazil, USA and Madagascar.
Rose quartz, as with all quartzes, have piezoelectric properties, which means it can translate mechanical stimulation into electrical charge and vise-versa. ( More information on this on Kendra Grace's book, "Aromatherapy, Crystals and Vibrational Healing", pg 145.
The energetic influence of rose quartz is for tranquilizing emotions, and can synergize well with rose oil, and all other sedative oils, neroli, bergamot and geranium. In astrology, rose quartz is ruled by Venus, and in ayurvedic texts it is said to be a stone of balance, between Yin and Yang.
